It started out like any average Wednesday, the sun rose, the sky was bright and it was a hot day. Little did I know that the night would be the same?

The S A M Assembly # 248 has guest lecturers once a month or so. It is a special treat for the members and a way of attracting new members.

A friend of mine and I arrived early to see the lecturer/entertainer of the month. When we went into the meeting room of the restaurant, we saw Santa Claus ( S A M # 248‘s own Duane Jones, President) and a very striking young man conversing. We were introduced to this young man and found out he was the guest lecturer. WOW, from the moment we met him we knew there was something special about this guy. There was no pretense, no airs, no façade; he was definitely approachable, and mostly just down right likeable. Of course, I am referring to the great Dr. Zodiac, or Mr. Scott Xavier. Dr. Zodiac’s business card tells you he is a “Paranormalist, Mentalist, Mind Reader, and “Psychological Illusionist”. This card does not do the man justice; he is a mind manipulator, weaver of stories, foreseer of the future, and most of all, a great entertainer.

Finally, 7:30 PM arrived and Santa called for quiet in the house, roll call was over and without further ado, he introduced “Dr. Zodiac”. Doc did not start out with any small talk; he simply threw a paper plane into the audience. He asked the person who caught it to think of any single digit number, and then he asked him to throw the plane to another person and was told to think of a single digit number, a third was asked to do the same. Doc then told about his flight into Phoenix on American Airlines and introduced an envelope with his itinerary on it. He asked a member of the audience to read the flight number. It matched the three (3) single digits the spectators thought of; WOW, what a feat!

Next, the Doctor threw out a deck of cards and had a spectator riffle through them and remember a card. Then the spectator was to pass the deck to someone else, riffle through the cards and remember a card. Then he asked him to pass them to someone else and repeat this process until four (4) spectators had seen four cards. He asked for the deck back and then proceeded to name every card the spectators had chosen. “The DOCTOR is in the House”.

Dr. Zodiac showed us a real arsenal of mental weapons to use. He did everything from A-Z. It was truly a mind spelling evening. In fact, he was so intriguing, that looking around the room I could see guys squeezing their legs; we forgot to take a break. During the break, Doc just stood there and talked to those of us who just could not give up the ship and had to stay and pick up any other jewels the Doc was giving out.

Doc had a few lecture notes and books for sale. I, of course, bought all five, what a bargain! The books included, “The Zodiac Effect”, great stuff on fortune- telling, palmistry, and tarot cards; “Untitled”, magnificent book of cold reading; “Desert Deceptions”, a brilliant compilation of his lecture notes; “Numerology, Playing Card Cartomancy”, a superb book of cold reading numbers and regular, yes regular playing cards; “Dim Mak”, a dazzling, incredible, and impressive master piece on pulse stopping. These will make a wonderful addition to my collection. The only bad comment I have is there were no DVDs for sale. Maybe, we can convince Doc there is a large market of mentalists out there and he needs to make some DVDs.

The evening progressed and we were treated to some techniques on metal bending, numerology and cold reading. These were real “jewels” of mentalism and very useable material. I could hardly wait for anything else he had to offer.

Before we knew it, the lecture was over. It seemed like we had just got there. This performer is well worth seeing, listening to, getting his materials, and most of all knowing. I feel like I have made a friend in the Mentalism World and I hope he feels that way too.

So, now you ask” how was the beginning of the day and the evening the same”? Dr. Zodiac is the rising sun (new performer), he is as bright a man as I have known, and of course he is the “hottest” mentalist around. Just a small side note: Dr. Zodiac will most likely be back; rumor has it, he is shopping for permanent residence here in the “Metro Valley” area. Well, this was the best lecture/demonstration I have seen.

The DOCTOR WAS DEFINITELY IN THE HOUSE!
