The Handcuff Shim Pick can open most handcuffs if the lock has jammed or even if the key has broken off inside! No more having to saw or use bolt cutters to release a prisoner locked in a pair of inoperable handcuffs. This handy little shim slides between the pawl and the ratchet to quickly release the cuff. The simple procedure can be most easily viewed and conceptualized and practiced by using the Clear Cuff (see Clear-Cuff Handcuff Cut-Away see below). Keep one of these on your keychain or in your wallet. Works only when cuffs are single- locked. Not a problem because the cheaper and more commonly manufactured handcuffs don't have double-locking mechanisms

The actual shim displayed, is one that I have carried in my wallet (numerous wallets) for well over 18 years. It was used to design / cut these shims. Why would I carry such an item in my wallet ? Answer: I was in the restaurant business for all those years and I witnessed or heard of many situations were a late-night robber or hold-up person would use a pair of handcuffs to "tie -up" the store manager. Some managers were lucky to be handcuff to something in the back area of the restaurant. The unlucky ones were handcuffed in the walk-in cooler or freezer !
